Yuzhaolin and Nanjiren thermal underwears fail Chinese regulatory tests

The current competition in the thermal underwear market in China is becoming fierce, with technological wars, price wars, advertising wars, speculation concepts, price comparisons, and stardom, and various competition methods are emerging one after another. Various concepts such as “Lycra”, “Charcoal Ca”, “Magic Ca” and “Reliable Ca” flood the Chinese market, and it is difficult for consumers to identify the authenticity of the product.

There are many thermal underwears on the Chinese market, with prices ranging from tens of yuan to several thousand yuan. The quality of the products varies from one to the other, with poor warmth retention, and inherently substandard quality. It has become very necessary to strengthen the supervision and spot check and management of thermal underwear products.

In order to protect the interests of Chinese consumers, the Suzhou Market Supervision Bureau recently conducted special supervision and spot checks on the quality of thermal underwear.

A total of 50 batches were sampled this time. The samples were from physical stores, e-commerce and manufacturing companies. The main quality indicators of thermal underwear were comprehensively tested, including:

Formaldehyde content; pH value; decomposable carcinogenic aromatic amine dyes; color fastness to water; color fastness to perspiration; color fastness to rubbing; color fastness to soaping; fiber content; warmth retention; moisture permeability; air permeability.

The inspection found 18 batches of products unqualified, and the pass rate in this period was 64.0%, involving brands like Yuzhaolin, Nanjiren, Avrilite, Oulika, Plandoo, GOSO, MAGIFIT, Xiudi, Oiman, Murou, Molly Wood, Zimier, Baishiqiansi, Shanyiniao, etc. The main problems were unqualified water fastness, acid fastness, acid fastness, alkali fastness, fiber content, air permeability and insulation rate.

Among them, the products of such enterprises as Mujie Clothing and Shanghai Plandoo Textile Technology Development Co., Ltd. were found to be unqualified for the “colorfastness” item.

Colorfastness refers to the ability of dyes on textiles to withstand various factors (such as sun exposure, washing, perspiration, friction, etc.) to maintain their original color to varying degrees. In clothing with poor color fastness, the dyes are easy to fall off and fade, which affects the appearance, and the shed dye molecules or heavy metal ions may be absorbed by the human body through the skin and endanger health. Fabric manufacturers use inferior dyes when dyeing fabrics, and insufficient washing after dyeing may cause the fabric’s colorfastness to be unqualified.

Jiangsu Yaku Clothing Co., Ltd., Shanghai Shachi Textile Technology Co., Ltd. and other enterprises have found unqualified “fiber content” items in their products.

Fiber content is an important quality indicator of clothing, and the quality of raw materials is one of the main factors that determine the value of the product. Consumers often choose to purchase based on explicit fiber content. Failure to label or incorrectly label the fiber content will directly affect consumers’ purchase of clothing.
