The following items are not allowed to be brought into China, and mail is not acceptable. Before you travel, you must be optimistic about the relevant regulations.
Living organisms and seeds cannot be brought into China!
Under the epidemic situation, China Customs has tightened supervision over people and mail entering the country. Recently, customs in various parts of China have notified many cases of returning from abroad or mailing illegal items.
At the end of March, Xi’an Customs intercepted live ornamental fish in inbound international mail. This was the first time that Xi’an Customs seized live fish and roe in international mail.
At that time, the staff found that a certain mail was declared as “aquatic products” very suspicious, so they opened the box for inspection and found that the mail contained a total of 12 fish and several fish eggs, goldfish and medaka, in three plastic bags.
According to the “The People’s Republic of China Prohibited Carrying and Mailing of Imported Animals and Plants and Their Products List”, live fish are the host of a variety of parasites and germs, and they are very easy to carry dangerous germs into the country and are prohibited to enter the country. The customs officer immediately detained the mail.
A similar example happened in Fuzhou. In mid-March, Fuzhou Changle Airport Customs recently seized 1 pack of nutmeg seeds, weighing 0.37 kilograms, while supervising the luggage of passengers on Indonesian flights.
According to relevant regulations, plants with reproductive capacity are forbidden to be carried or mailed into the country. Because the seeds and other plant materials with reproductive capacity that have not entered the country under quarantine, they are very likely to carry insects, bacteria, viruses and other harmful organisms, posing a threat to China’s ecological security and agricultural and forestry production. Therefore, the seeds were immediately intercepted in accordance with the law.
In response to the above cases, the Chinese customs remind the public to check and understand relevant laws and regulations when sending cross-border mail. Do not mail animals and plants and their products into the country at will. Otherwise, they will not only face administrative penalties, but may also be held criminally responsible if the circumstances are serious.
Endangered species cannot be brought into China!
Not only live seeds, but many endangered species are often mailed or brought into the country. Due to insufficient knowledge of some tourists, they often take them back to China as ordinary “souvenirs”. For example, dried seahorse, clam, ivory, etc., have always been the focus of customs supervision. Guangzhou Customs seized 3 pieces of decorative bracelets in the entry and travel inspection channels. After identification, these bracelets were confirmed as endangered shell products of the clam clam clam family.
Cultural relics cannot be brought into China!
In recent years, China has facilitated the return of many overseas cultural relics, and the customs are extremely sensitive to the entry of clothes, bronzes and other things.
When inspecting the two batches of commercial express mail, Hangzhou Customs officers found that the declared value was only 381 yuan and 169 yuan, and the passing images were abnormal.
After unpacking and inspection, the item was found to be inconsistent with the actual declaration, and the staff immediately took it for inspection.
According to the appraisal of professional institutions, it was declared as a “Cotton Embroidered Women’s Clothing” to be a Qing Dynasty dragon gown worth 150,000 yuan; and a “bronze ornament” declared as 169 yuan was actually a Ming Dynasty Buddha statue worth 30,000 yuan!
According to regulations, the act of hiding, disguising, concealing, false reporting or other means to evade customs supervision, transportation, carrying, and mailing of goods and articles prohibited or restricted by the state from entering or leaving the country, or goods and articles that are subject to tax in accordance with the law. All are smuggling.
