Late last month, SARFT said in a report that it will shorten the time of approving mobile games, some Chinese gaming media sites thus thought this is great news for game developers, because it means that the gaming censorship will be loosened.
However, according to the People’s Daily, Ministry of Culture has just held a press conference on Dec. 2nd and announced a new round of crackdown against mobile games and cartoons, just as we China’s Mobile Games Market site warned one month ago.
11 Android stores, including Tencent’s Myapp (应用宝), Baidu Apps (百度应用) and Qihoo’s 360 Mobile Games Site, were criticized for violating regulations and laws in release of mobile games with gambling, pornographic, violent and unethical content.
Besides, some popular online cartoons including Zombie Brother and Painted Skin together with Tencent Cartoon, China Telecom’s “Love Cartoons” and other cartoons sites were also named and shamed.
