Sam’s Club removal of Xinjiang products triggers card refunds

Wal-Mart’s Sam’s Club has recently been exposed to take off Xinjiang products. Faced with doubts, Sam responded that the removal was due to “inventory.” But then some netizens discovered that other products that were removed from the shelves due to insufficient inventory could still find product information on Sam’s official website, but they could not be purchased, which was completely different from the Xinjiang products that were removed from the shelves. Such targeted “deliberate actions” have caused strong dissatisfaction among consumers, and many card withdrawals have occurred.

In recent years, warehousing member stores represented by Sam have gradually prospered. According to data released by Wal-Mart, Sam’s Club has 36 stores in 22 cities in China, with 4 million members. The development momentum is good, there are many branches opened, and the paid membership model has gradually been recognized by Chinese consumers. With such a good momentum of development, has Sam forgotten its original intentions for consumers?

There is no reason to remove Xinjiang products, as a commercial behavior, it is irrational. For the reasons behind this, Sam has not yet given a formal response. In any case, it is foolish and short-sighted to entrain commercial issues with ulterior prejudices. Relying on the Chinese market and earning money from the vast number of Chinese consumers, but behind the scenes, they resorted to nasty means to boycott the products produced by this country and the people. Such behavior of “eating the meal but smashing the pot” not only violates normal market laws, but also harms the legitimate rights and emotions of consumers.

I hope Sam respects the laws of the market, responds as soon as possible, and corrects wrongdoings. After all, consumers have to vote with their feet. When rights and emotions cannot be guaranteed and respected, I am afraid it will be difficult for Sam to continue to make money in China. Source
