Grandpa and granddaughter smeared as ‘old husband and young wife’, Chinese official media call for serious accountability

A photo described as “old husband and young wife” has recently spread on the Chinese Internet and attracted attention, but the person in the photo has publicly spoken out online to dispel the rumors, saying that the photo is a souvenir photo she took with her grandfather several years ago, and will defend her rights and pursue responsibility.

According to “Beijing Youth Daily” reported on November 21, a Chinese netizen named “Brother Fly in Dongguan” in a platform with pictures posted that “73-year-old Dongguan Qingxi entrepreneur married 29-year-old Guangxi beauty, 880,000 yuan gift + 880,000 second room apartment + a luxury car. ”

After the news spread quickly online, some Chinese netizens found that the photos were stolen from a girl’s photo shoot with her grandfather a few years ago.

The blogger named “_NikiJun_” (_Niki君_) published a long article in the early morning of November 21 on the Internet in response to the rumor-mongering incident.

“_NikiJun_” said that in order to fulfill her grandfather’s wish, she posted photos of herself and her grandfather touring Shanghai in Xiaohongshu on December 29, 2018, and then successively posted the photos she took with him. The day before yesterday, she was told by a friend that some of the pictures had appeared on an online platform and had been written as a story about “an old husband and a young wife”.

The blogger said it was very devastating, her life has been distressed, and has contacted a lawyer to seriously pursue, she hopes to detain the reposter, and she was collecting evidence.

At noon of 21st, the blogger said that her lawyer told her that the treatment she hoped for to get the rumor monger detained in jail is almost impossible, and it can hardly be filed by the police.

The lawyer said that past victims of disinformation had incurred hundreds of thousands of dollars in rights defense costs, and that the road to rights defense was even calculated on a yearly basis, and she once cried so hard that she lost her words and broke down.

The blogger said, “The biggest breakdown point is that I really can’t think and angry why I have to bear these!” But the blogger said she would still choose to defend her rights to the end, “Only then will it give enough deterrence to people who love rumors.”

The original posting of “Brother Fly in Dongguan” has been deleted, and the corresponding account cannot be searched. But some netizens broke the news that ” Brother Fly in Dongguan” has changed its name to “Dongguan Story Club” and browsed his posts to find that the account often publishes similar eye-catching news.

In response, the Chinese party media “People’s Daily” published a commentary article saying that such a marketing account is not alone, behind it is a group of people in the madness, such malicious marketing has become a public hazard of the Internet.

According to the article, the regulatory authorities should have zero tolerance for this kind of chaos, and take targeted measures to resolutely crack down on such cases according to the law; the network platform should not provide space for such accounts, and should not let rumors grow wings and fly around on the platform, let alone allowing such people to change their “vests” and continue to do evil.

The article emphasizes that it’s necessary to find out who is operating the “Brother Fly in Dongguan” and whether there is a black interest chain behind it? How to maximize the survival of malicious marketing accounts? And efforts should be made to improve the management system and mechanism, address the symptoms to promote the root cause, and address the root cause to consolidate the symptoms. Source
