47-year-old actor Peter Ho and actress Peggy Lin, after a low-profile relationship of 9 years, got married in 2016. However, due to their work, they have often lived separately. Now married for 7 years and childless, Peggy Lin suddenly announced that she and Peter Ho have “ended their 16 years of living separately” and moved from Taiwan to mainland China.
Peter Ho, straddling multiple realms such as actor, director, and producer, won the Golden Bell Award for Drama Program Director in 2018 for “The Memory of Climbing Over The Wall”. Being very career-minded, Ho prioritized his career in the mainland entertainment circle. Though he gained both fame and fortune, he was also forced to live apart from his wife.
Peggy Lin recently revealed in a TikTok video that besides being the wife of “Brother Dong” (Peter Ho), she also has another identity as a live-streaming sales host. She used to be an ordinary woman working as a counter girl in a department store for 10 years until she met Peter Ho at the age of 28: “Brother Dong is always busy filming.”
Peggy Lin frankly stated that she later became a jewelry designer, but due to insisting on handmade production for 10 years, “my hand started to have problems last year, and I couldn’t even take care of myself during serious times, so I came to Hengdian to recover, and ended 16 years of living separately with Brother Dong.”
Peter Ho and his wife are finally able to live together, their relationship becoming sweeter. With the recommendation of Peter Ho’s agent, Peggy Lin has started to become a live streaming host, and has even recently started her own business. Both love and career are going well.
So why did Peter Ho, who doesn’t pay attention to the beauties in the entertainment circle, marry a “counter lady” with a junior high school education?
In 2016, at the age of 41, Peter Ho married his girlfriend Peggy Lin, whom he had been dating for 9 years, and the two embarked on the journey of marriage together.
Surprisingly, Peggy Lin is not from the entertainment industry, nor is she a daughter of a wealthy family. She is just a counter attendant with a junior high school education and a bit of attractiveness.
So, what charm does she possess that made Peter Ho marry her?
01
In 2007, Peter Ho went to a nightclub with his friends and met Peggy Lin there.
Peggy Lin, eight years younger than Peter Ho, was born into an ordinary family in Taiwan, with relatively limited financial means.
After graduating from junior high school, Peggy Lin’s family couldn’t afford her high school tuition, so she dropped out and started working as a counter attendant to earn money.
By chance, she went to the nightclub and met Peter Ho. They didn’t have much conversation on their first meeting, just a simple smile.
But fate works in mysterious ways. The next day, they met again at another gathering, and Peter Ho took the initiative to ask for Peggy Lin’s contact information.
Standing at 169cm tall, Peggy Lin possessed captivating long legs. She had a high level of attractiveness, exuding elegance and comfort with her fair skin and well-defined features, giving off an air of grace and suitability, the epitome of a virtuous wife and mother.
Thus, they began to interact. Peter Ho discovered that this girl was not only thrifty but also gentle and considerate, the ideal girl he had in mind.
“She’s someone who would help a blind person cross the street and has a lot of love for stray animals.” As they got to know each other better, Peter Ho realized that Peggy Lin was the ideal partner he had been searching for.
And Peggy Lin was also fond of Peter Ho’s maturity, stability, and sunny handsomeness.
So, they officially started dating.

However, as Peter Ho was in a period of career development at the time, they didn’t publicly announce their relationship, and Peggy Lin wisely “hid” herself.
She didn’t get involved in any of Peter Ho’s work, didn’t visit the set, and didn’t appear openly. Instead, she chose to be the silent woman behind Peter Ho.
Willing to be the “invisible girlfriend” for the sake of Peter Ho’s image, Peggy Lin willingly resigned from her job as a counter attendant and moved in with Peter Ho’s parents to take care of them, allowing Peter Ho to focus on earning money outside.
Moved by Peggy Lin’s sacrifice, Peter Ho felt guilty towards her. So, he helped Peggy Lin realize her dream of starting a design company to create the jewelry she loved.
And so, they secretly dated for 9 years until 2016 when Peter Ho announced their marriage.
Peter Ho and Peggy Lin were both low-key people and didn’t hold any grand wedding ceremony, just going to a remote area to take wedding photos.
However, Peter Ho didn’t expect that Peggy Lin’s marriage would attract so much attention. Countless voices of doubt emerged, saying she “married up to Peter Ho,” “a ugly duckling wanting to turn into a swan,” “a sparrow turning into a phoenix”…
But these voices seemed to have no effect on the two of them; they held hands happily, showing their love openly.
After marriage, they went out openly, and Peter Ho always appeared in public with his wife.

Due to years of making handmade jewelry, Peggy Lin developed a hand ailment in 2021. The hospital suggested surgery, but she was afraid of the risks, so she chose conservative treatment, resulting in intermittent relapses of the hand ailment.
By 2022, she had difficulty using chopsticks and driving. Seeing this, Peter Ho was heartbroken and wanted to bring his wife closer to him to take care of her personally.
In between filming, Peter Ho himself found a storefront, personally designed and supervised construction, wanting to open a design studio for his wife in Hengdian.
In the spring of 2023, Peggy Lin moved from Taiwan to Hengdian, ending their 16-year long-distance relationship.
The staff of Peter Ho’s agency felt Peggy Lin was outgoing, very affable, and had strong communication skills when they first met her, so they suggested she do live broadcasts.
Peggy Lin also hoped to use her aesthetic sense to serve her large number of fans, so she readily agreed.
Soon, Peggy Lin started doing live broadcasts in the studio, and whenever he wasn’t filming, Peter Ho would visit her and accompany her during the broadcasts. During breaks in filming, he would also go to the studio to cheer her on.
On March 10th this year, it was their 7th wedding anniversary. Peter Ho posted three photos on Weibo of them sitting on a park bench, basking in the sun.
The couple responded to the “seven-year itch” in a humorous way, their sweet state resembling that of a couple in the early stages of love.
Looking back, they had experienced many years together. Peggy Lin burned herself silently for the other like a candle, willingly supporting Peter Ho silently for 16 years, enduring many lonely and long-distance days of love that not everyone could endure.
