Canadian actor Kris Wu, who worked in China, was exposed for sexual misconduct by internet celebrity Du Meizhu in 2021. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison and deported. Wu appealed the verdict, but it was rejected. Yesterday (23), he was reported by Chinese authorities as a “serious criminal typical case” and appeared in the Beijing People’s Congress. Kou Fang, the chief justice of the Beijing Higher People’s Court, revealed the details of his crimes.
During the meeting, Kou Fang presented three serious criminal typical cases, including Kris Wu’s case. He mentioned Wu’s charges of rape and organizing obscene activities in public places, providing details of the cases. In November and December 2020, Wu forced sexual relations on three women who were unable to resist due to intoxication at his residence.
Additionally, on July 1, 2018, Wu, along with others, organized obscene activities with two other women at his residence. The Chaoyang District People’s Court in Beijing sentenced Kris Wu to 13 years in prison for charges of rape and organizing obscene activities in public places, along with deportation.
However, Wu’s mother expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict earlier, revealing the behind-the-scenes of the lawsuit. This disclosure was removed by Chinese authorities, but many netizens still saw it. Wu’s mother expressed heartbreak, saying, “If Kris Wu is in this situation, it’s my fault. When my child insisted on leaving the entertainment industry, I resisted vigorously because of fame. My obsession with fame caused my child’s rebellion, and I apologize to the public.” She also mentioned severe abuse and coercion of witnesses and stated that she would continue to appeal in the future.
