The TVB Miss Hong Kong 2023 grand finale has successfully concluded, with Hilary Chong (莊子璇) clinching the title despite the controversies surrounding her.
21-year-old Hilary Chong is currently studying in Hong Kong. Much like her senior Feng Yingying, she is pursuing Nutrition. With her striking appearance, many have likened her to being the next “Feng Yingying 2.0”. On her social media platforms, Hilary frequently shares beautiful glimpses of her personal life. Apart from showcasing her figure, her style and innocent demeanor bear a certain resemblance to the South Korean superstar, IU.
During the competition, there were reports suggesting that Hilary wasn’t particularly liked by the other contestants. Allegedly, her actions were perceived as arrogant in front of her peers, causing discontent among them. It was said that after gaining popularity, Hilary became high-handed and two-faced. There were also claims of her ingratiating herself with the backstage crew and being overly sweet to them, causing further resentment among fellow contestants. However, Hilary remained graceful and composed throughout the contest, eventually emerging as the winner.
Apart from the reported backstage intrigues, Hilary recently revealed a vulnerable side during an event. She admitted to having a weak constitution and getting ill easily, expressing hopes for good health during the finale. When asked about concerns of jealousy from other contestants due to her favored status, she remarked, “I just do my best. How others see me is their business.” This savvy response displayed a high emotional quotient.
In a dramatic turn, due to extreme stress, Hilary developed a sudden rash and required hospitalization. In an interview, she recounted, “Late at night, while talking with my family, my mother noticed that my face was red and swollen. When I looked in the mirror, I was shocked to see my condition. Soon after, rashes spread to my hands and body. I rushed to the emergency room, where the doctor suggested I stay for treatment. Over two days, I received seven injections to control the situation. The redness and swelling have now subsided, but I’m still feeling under the weather.”
