China’s Jiangsu Market Supervision Bureau recently conducted a special quality inspection on baby pacifiers. 49 batches of baby pacifiers were spot-checked, including brand products such as Belle Baylor, Pigeon, Iskal, Rikang, Meierbei, Mitaoxin, Mi Nixiong, etc. The samples were from e-commerce companies such as Tmall and JD.com, as well as physical stores and manufacturing companies such as Wal-Mart and Goodbaby.
The inspection found 5 batches of pacifiers unqualified, and the unqualified rate was 10.2%. The unqualified items were volatile substances and potassium permanganate consumption.
The “Hito general caliber nipple” and the other five substandard products sold in the Xingtang store of Suzhou Auchan Supermarket and Shanghai US BABY Baby Products Co., Ltd. have the common problem of substandard “volatile substances” items.
When infants use pacifiers with substandard volatile substance indicators, harmful substances are easily absorbed by infants through the digestive tract, and because most harmful substances have the characteristics of latent and cumulative, coupled with the fact that infants’ own immune system is not yet perfect, long-term use of them will affect health and physical development.
It is understood that Shanghai US BABY is a subsidiary of US BABY Company in China, and Hito pacifiers are produced by Shanghai US BABY Baby Products Co., Ltd. under authorization from Japan’s Hito-Tech Co. Ltd. As early as 2017, Shanghai US BABY Company recalled 2,856 HITO crystal color pacifiers, and the reason was also the presence of volatile harmful substances.
