According to a report from the Xiaoxiang Morning Post, a long-lived elderly woman in Yiyang, Hunan, recently celebrated her 110th birthday. Not only is she in good health, but she can also manage her daily life independently. It’s understood that the elderly woman lives with five generations under one roof and shares the secrets to long life, such as “being diligent and staying active, never being idle” and “maintaining curiosity.”
Born in February 1914, Fu Mo Xiu lost her husband around forty years ago and has since raised four generations of descendants on her own. She has three daughters and two sons. Her eldest daughter is 87 years old, while her youngest son is 71. Additionally, she has 11 grandchildren, with the eldest being close to 70 and the youngest 35. Fu Mo Xiu has been recognized as the oldest person in Taohuan County in 2024. According to her granddaughter Yang Jing, Fu Mo Xiu can still manage her daily life quite well, taking care of herself without much assistance.
When asked about the secret to longevity, Fu Mo Xiu’s son said it’s the question they get asked the most. He admitted there’s no definitive answer but emphasized his mother’s focus on hygiene, diligence, love for staying active, and refusal to be idle. Yang Jing, the granddaughter, added that her grandmother is a curious person who is always willing to try and understand new things.
