Walt Disney (Shanghai) Limited and Shanghai Media Group announced they have agreed to expand strategic cooperation on November 21st, which will cover television creative development, film co-production, content publishing and marketing.
The two companies have been partners for 15 years, and shot three films together: The Secret of the Magic Gourd (cartoon film), Trail of the Panda and Disney High School Musical: China. Disney also made a cartoon of Chinese story – Mulan by itself.
The new cooperation aims to develop a series of cartoons based on Chinese cultural icons.
Disney’s mobile games Temple Run: Brave and Where’s My Water were very popular in China.
