A 20-year-old man mysteriously disappeared near Dianchi Lake, claiming that he was chosen by an immortal to go to a world where mortals can’t.
Around 2 AM on July 17, 2023, Wang Wei, a 20-year-old, sent a strange message to his father, Wang Zonghong. This peculiar message left him uneasy and confused. He expressed, “I doubt if the message was really sent by him, but it does conform to his usual way of speaking.”
In the message, Wang Wei wrote, “Dad, I’m going to a world that no mortal can reach. I’ve been chosen by an immortal today…And in the world of the immortals, a day passes when only 5 hours pass on Earth. The immortal said that I have excellent qualifications and shouldn’t waste my time in the mortal world…”
On the 17th, Wang Wei’s mother, Qin Su, reported him missing to the police, and Wang’s father, along with dozens of relatives and friends from their hometown, rushed to Kunming to search for him. Half a month passed without any trace or clue.
It is understood that around 10 PM on the 16th, Wang Wei left his lodging alone and took a shared bicycle from the roadside. He then took a taxi to the nearby Haigeng Dam at Dianchi Lake. Around midnight on the 17th, he entered a small grove along the corridor on the side of the Haigeng Dam; around 2 AM, he sent that very eerie message to his father via WeChat.
It is known that when Wang Wei left his accommodation, he only took his mobile phone; he did not bring his ID card or any change of clothes. Hotel staff reported that there were no signs of any abnormal behavior before he disappeared, and there were no conflicts with colleagues.
