On June 23, Wang Li (pseudonym) reported to Taishan Finance that her friend had bought her a drink from a Naixue store in Jinjiang District, Chengdu. To Wang’s surprise, she discovered a whole bee in her drink during consumption.
Wang believes that the small opening of the cup makes it unlikely that the bee could have been inserted or flown in after the drink was made. She suspects the bee entered during the drink preparation process.
In response, Wang contacted the store in question, but the Naixue outlet did not admit fault. They claimed that their review of the materials and drink preparation process showed no abnormalities, and there was no possibility of a bee entering during production.
Additionally, the store mentioned that since the consumer did not report the issue immediately, it could not be guaranteed that the bee did not enter through the cup opening later. As compensation, they offered a refund and three free vouchers, which Wang found unreasonable. She demanded compensation ten times the amount in accordance with food safety regulations.
Taishan Finance sent an inquiry to Naixue about the bee in the drink and their production standards, but had not received a reply by the time of publication. On June 24, after Taishan Finance intervened, the consumer reported that Naixue agreed to compensate.
Taishan Finance learned that this was not the first food safety issue for Naixue. According to a report by Consumer Daily on June 17, a customer had reported finding two flies in a milk tea purchased from a Naixue store in Qingyuecheng PRO, Taizhou, Zhejiang in April.
