According to the China Consumers Association, the samples are all adult rechargeable electric toothbrushes, and the toothbrush head is a detachable head. The 25 samples were purchased from JD.com, Suning.com and Tmall.com. The sample unit price ranges from 60 yuan to 1,000 yuan.
In terms of cleaning performance, by comparing the cleaning effects of 25 sample toothbrushes on dental mold stains, 16 samples have relatively good cleaning effects; 4 samples are poor and have poor cleaning effects, involving Royalstar, Qianshan, and j-style, Nanjiren, their ratings are only 2 stars.
In addition, the China Consumers Association said that noise is an important aspect of measuring the quality of electric toothbrushes. Excessive noise can make users feel irritable, and it is also the reason why some consumers cannot accept electric toothbrushes. The noise of an electric toothbrush is mainly caused by the high-speed vibration of the internal motor.
In the experiment, the maximum noise of 25 electric toothbrush samples was tested, and the test results were quite different. Among them, 4 products have a noise greater than 50 decibels, plus high-frequency vibration, which makes users feel that the noise is louder, just like the sound of a dental drill. They are Oral-B BRAUN electric toothbrush 3765, Oral-B BRAUN electric toothbrush 3766, Saky Pro sonic electric toothbrush G22 and ubaLun sonic electric toothbrush UBL-01 with only 3 stars.
The noise of 14 products is lower than 40 decibels, which is equivalent to the sound of a quiet conversation, and users are more willing to accept it. The difference between the maximum noise and the minimum noise of the sample is about 25 decibels, which is quite noisy.
In terms of batteries, the China Consumers Association said that there are 23 electric toothbrush samples marked with charging time, and 2 models are not marked. Among the 23 electric toothbrushes marked with charging time, the actual charging time of 2 samples exceeded the nominal maximum time.
For the 25 samples in this comparison test, when fully charged, the common mode marked on the products was turned on to perform the discharge test, and the discharge time was calculated. The longer the discharge time, the longer the working time of a fully charged battery and the more durable it is. Among them, 5 samples had a discharge time of more than 8 hours, and 7 had a discharge time of 3-8 hours. The longest discharge time measured was 21.7 hours, and the shortest discharge time was 0.7 hours, which is a huge difference.
In addition, after checking the signs and descriptions of 25 samples, it was found that there were some problems in the labeling content of the product signs and descriptions, which was not conducive to consumers’ purchase.
On some sample toothbrush handles, the use gear or warning information is not marked in Chinese, which is likely to cause misuse for some users, or fail to play a proper safety warning role. Some toothbrushes do not have a nameplate on the handle, or the nameplate can be easily removed, or the nameplate lacks product information, which cannot guide users to use electric toothbrushes correctly and safely. Among the 25 samples, only 2 samples with the name “Oral-B BRAUN” clearly stated the noise level.
