Yonghui Superstores’ 15 batches of food products fail sampling tests

Nowadays, many Chinese city dwellers rely on large supermarkets to purchase their living materials. Therefore, food safety in these supermarkets is often more important.

According to the People’s Daily Fuzhou, April 8, according to the Food Safety Supervision and Inspection Information Bulletin issued by the Fujian Provincial Administration of Market Supervision, Yonghui Superstores (also known as Yonghui Bravo Supermarket or Bravo YH) failed a total of 15 batches of food samples in Fuzhou, Putian, Longyan and other stores in the first quarter of this year.

This includes a number of food products that were detected oxyfloxacin, enrofloxacin failed. It is reported that the consumption of food detected oxyfloxacin, long-term intake of food with enrofloxacin exceeded the standard may cause dizziness, headache, poor sleep, gastrointestinal irritation and other symptoms.

15 batches of food failed

Unqualified batches of food include:

Fujian Provincial Administration of Market Supervision 2021 No. 2 food safety supervision and sampling information announcement, Fujian Yonghui Superstores Ltd. Putian city water rhyme city store sales of snakehead fish (purchase date of August 26, 2020), oxyfloxacin failed.

The snakehead fish (purchase date August 27, 2020) sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. at Qinglan Store, Huangshi Town, Licheng District, Putian City, failed oxyfloxacin.

In the 3rd food safety supervision and sampling information bulletin of 2021, snakehead fish (purchase date 27 August 2020) sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Ltd. in Li Cheng North Store, Putian City, failed oxyfluoroxacin.

Fujian Yonghui Superstores Ltd. Putian city Licheng town Qinglan store sales of ice squid (purchase date of August 23, 2020), cadmium (in Cd) failed.

In the 4th food safety supervision and sampling information announcement in 2021, white duck (purchase date July 14, 2020) from Ju County Huada Food Co. sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Co. at Wanda Plaza Store in Longyan, failed chloramphenicol.

Selected – sea duck eggs (purchase date 8 October 2020) from Fujian Duofu Egg Co. sold by Yonghui Superstores Co. Fujian Fuzhou Chengmen Supermarket were unqualified for florfenicol.

In the 5th Food Safety Supervision and Inspection Information Notice of 2021, Bama Fire Hemp Oil, with an acidity (KOH) failure, produced on October 11, 2020 by Liaoning Shengmai Industry Co. and sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Ltd. in Jinyang Jindu Store in Nanping City.

In the Announcement of Food Safety Supervision and Sampling Information No. 6, 2021, snakehead fish (purchase date 11 September 2020) sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Jinfeng Xicheng Branch, failed enrofloxacin.

Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Fujian Fuzhou Langqi Branch sales of ice squid (purchase date October 4, 2020), cadmium (as Cd) failed.

In the 7th Food Safety Supervision and Inspection Information Notice of 2021, the vegetable moss (purchase date of October 19, 2020) from Nanping Heongtong Ecological Agriculture Development Co., Ltd. sold by Xiamen Yonghui Commercial Co. Haitian Supermarket was unqualified for bifenthrin.

In the announcement of food safety supervision and sampling information for the 8th period in 2021, the fish skin peanuts produced by Jiangxi Yideli Food Co., Ltd. on July 27, 2020 allegedly failed with peroxide value (in terms of fat), sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Ltd. in Quanzhou Fengze Quanxiu Store.

Female positive crab (purchase date November 17, 2020) sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Co. Ltd. Shaowu Henghua Store, Nanping City, with unqualified cadmium (as Cd).

New ginger (purchase date 15 November 2020) sold by Yonghui Superstores Co. Ltd. Fujian Fuzhou Park Road Supermarket, failed for lead (as Pb) and cadmium (as Cd).

The fair crab (purchase date December 5, 2020) sold by Fujian Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. at Century Jinyuan Store in Minjiang, Cangshan, Fuzhou, failed for cadmium (as Cd).

In the 9th food safety supervision and sampling information announcement in 2021, pepper peanuts (date of manufacture December 3, 2020) sold by Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. supermarket in Wusi North Road, Fuzhou, Fujian, failed aflatoxin B1.

After sorting out found that Yonghui Superstores 15 batches of unqualified food, snakehead fish, ice squid, positive crab and other aquatic products sampling failed 8 times.

The sampling failed items involve ofloxacin, enrofloxacin, cadmium, etc.

According to the risk alert issued by the Fujian Provincial Administration of Market Supervision, ofloxacin belongs to the quinolone class of drugs, with a wide antibacterial spectrum, strong activity and other characteristics, had been widely used in the prevention and treatment of bacterial diseases of livestock and poultry. According to the regulations, the use of ofloxacin in food animals ceased (not detectable in animal food).

Consumption of food with detected ofloxacin may cause dizziness, headache, poor sleep, gastrointestinal irritation and other symptoms.

Enrofloxacin belongs to the fluoroquinolones, a class of synthetic broad-spectrum antibacterial drugs, used for the treatment of skin infections, respiratory tract infections in animals, etc., is the exclusive use of drugs for animals. According to the relevant regulations, the maximum residue limit of enrofloxacin in fish (skin + meat) and other animal muscles is 100μg/kg.

Long-term intake of food with enrofloxacin exceeding the limit may cause symptoms such as dizziness, headache, poor sleep, gastrointestinal irritation or discomfort.

Cadmium (in Cd) is one of the most common contaminants of heavy metal elements.

The National Standard for Food Safety Limits of Contaminants in Food (GB 2762-2017) stipulates that the limit for cadmium (in Cd) in fresh vegetables (except leafy vegetables, bean vegetables, root and tuber vegetables, stem vegetables and yellow cabbage) is 0.05mg/kg.

Last year many times in Anhui sampling failed

According to Xin’an Evening News-Anhui.com, Anhui Yonghui Superstores has been named more than ten times in the notices of unqualified food sampling tests published by the Market Supervision Administration since March last year.

No. 9, 2020: Anhui Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Hefei Binhu Yintai City Branch distributed, allegedly produced by Chongqing Qinxin Food Co., Ltd. tender meat starch, the total number of bacterial colonies does not meet the provisions of the national food safety standards.

No. 12, 2020: Black fish distributed by Anhui Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Hefei Baohe Wanda Branch, oxyfloxacin does not meet the provisions of the national food safety standards.

No. 15, 2020: Bream distributed by Anhui Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Hefei Qianshan Road Branch failed the sampling test.

No. 48, 2020: Anhui Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Huabei State Shopping Plaza Branch sales, allegedly produced by Hefei Fafa Industry and Trade Co.

Issue 7, 2021: The loach from Anhui Li Guojun Aquatic Products Co., Ltd. sold by Anhui Yonghui Superstores Co. Anhui Yonghui Superstores Co., Ltd. Chuzhou Wanda Plaza Branch sales of bullfrog sampling failed.

The deputy director of the Xigang Branch of the Nanjing Qixia District Market Supervision Bureau said in an interview with the media that Yonghui Superstores only serves as a pickup location and does not provide sales services, but is actually sold by a company in Shanghai, so it is not good to file a case.

Yonghui Superstores joint venture company Yonghui Fresh Food (彩食鲜) received 1 billion Series A investment

According to the 21st Century Business Herald, on December 11 last year, Yonghui Superstores (601933.SH) announced that Yonghui Fresh Food Development Co. (hereinafter referred to as “Yonghui Fresh Food”) signed the Capital Increase Agreement with various investors on December 11, and received 1 billion RMB Series A investment.

According to public information, Yonghui Fresh Food was incubated within Yonghui in 2015 and is a B2B fresh food supply platform under Yonghui Superstores, dedicated to providing customers with a total solution around the supply of ingredients. Fresh Food business segment by sorting and integrating it, and established a joint venture with High Tide Capital and Sequoia China to jointly invest RMB 800 million to support Yonghui Fresh Food’s independent development.

In terms of performance, Yonghui Fresh Food achieved revenue of 3.194 billion yuan in 2019; from January to September this year, Yonghui Fresh Food’s revenue of 3.080 billion yuan was close to last year’s full-year total.

Yonghui Superstores said in the announcement that in recent years, in the financing transactions of companies engaged in B2B market sales business, there are companies that determine their pre-investment valuation based on the standard of 1.5 times to 2.5 times of the latest year’s sales revenue; the consideration of this capital increase was determined by reference to the aforementioned valuation method and the final negotiation combined with the results of communication with the parties of the capital increase.

Yonghui Fresh Food has invested and laid out large central fresh food factories in Beijing, Fujian, Chongqing, Sichuan, Anhui, Jiangsu and other places in China. The factories not only have national certification such as food safety management system certificate and quality management system certificate, but also are equipped with modern processing workshops for fruits and vegetables, meat and poultry, bean products, pasta and frozen products. Yonghui Superstores has been using the “fresh category” as its differentiation strategy. After the completion of Yonghui Fresh Food’s capital increase, Yonghui Superstores will further widen its moat in the fresh category.
